Illiger's macaw

The length of the illiger's macaw is 43 cms and 17 inches long
The weight of it 250-350 grams
The lifespan is 30-45 years
The incubation is 24-26 days
Age at weaning is 12-14 weeks
Age at maturity is 2 1/2 years
The natural habitat is Central and eastern brazil through the paraguay and into the north east argentina

The illiger's macaw are seen at the water and forest canopy. The population is endangered and its declining.  They are green plumage, The crown is blue and the head is blue greenish nape and cheeks, There is a red patch on the forehead, on the mid back and lower belly. The wings have blue feathers and and the underside is olive green. The tail is redish brown and blue. Females are paler than males, the eye is orange brownish, the beak is black and the legs are yellowish.
The illigers macaw needs a cage that is 9x5 5x6 feet they need inside shelter and they need time on play pen or parrot perch. In the wild they feed on fruits like palm nut fruits, seeds, nuts, blossoms on palm trees.

Their social behavior is they are lovable, friendly and inteligent. They greet wit crown like call when they are interacting with a person. In the wild they are seen in pairs or small parties.

The activities is they like to climb and play, they are very active and need room to strech its wings. To prevent boredom they chew on toys they have or see.

The illiger macaw reproduction is they reach maturity at 2-4 years, They require a box for breeding about 12x12x24 with a small opening about 3 inches. The females lay eggs to 1-4 and incubation is 23-25 days the young will fly away from nest in about 10-12 weeks.

The potential problems is they are very noise, they are ment to be medium noise compared to the other macaws.
